Some of you may remember that last year I was having a flare up of some longstanding health issues, which made typing very difficult. The bad news is that unfortunately it looks like my arm is now pretty much permanently buggered (that's a technical term ::g::). The good news is that we dealt with it fine last year, so I feel confident we'll do the same this! Also, I now have speech recognition software and am not afraid to use it! Fear me and ma Dragon!

So, I bring you all of last year's posts on formatting your fics before you submit them, with some extra added bonuses of how to easily html code your bold and italics in microsoft word!

Formatting Your Fic, or: How to Make Alyse and Claire Very Happy (without resorting to porn and/or chocolate)

HTML file templates (for the longer fic writers amongst us)

And new this year: How to format italics, bold and underline in word documents by [livejournal.com profile] anr.

You can also find these posts using our admin: formatting tags.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Dear all

Remember how I said that [livejournal.com profile] aithine was working on an easy to use template for the stories hosted on my website? Well, she's done it, and here is an example of how it will look using one of last year's stories, Leah's The Sacrificial Mage:

Last year's template

This year's template

The main difference - other than being much neater than my attempt ::g:: - is that the notes etc are in a php file, which will make it easier to edit author names in at the reveal, and to edit the link back to the [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa post for that story.

If anyone is feeling particularly html savvy and would like to code their own stories, here is a link to the template-info.php file, which contains all of the story notes etc. Please note that this is not obligatory. If you just send us the story file, we're quite happy to code it up for you and it may be easier for us to do it anyway if it's something you're not entirely used to. This is just for people like me who like messing around with this stuff ::g::

Since we're getting closer to the deadline for stories (December 10th) and stories are starting to trickle in now (yay! for people who are early ::g::), we figured it was time for a 'Formatting Your Fic, Yay!' post.

Given [livejournal.com profile] alyse's previous post about having difficulty typing at the moment, we're totally cribbing previous posts to firm up our submission guidelines.

This is nothing new but it is absolutely essential that you follow these formatting guides this year, as Alyse will not be physically capable of fixing stuff the way she has previously, and Claire will pout if she has to do it all herself.

Those of you that have already sent stories in, you're fine and don't worry about it. You're already on the mod LJ and good to go when posting starts.

Any questions?

* Please note, you can also do this by sending us chocolate (Claire), alcohol (Alyse), Jared Padalecki trussed up and tied with a bow (Claire), Andrew Lee Potts - again, trussed up and tied with a bow (Alyse) or porn (both of us)...
