I'm sure the reminder won't be necessary but you do need to get your story into us today unless you've already negotiated an extension. At the moment we have more extensions than stories but I'm sure that I'm panicking unnecessarily and the rest will land in my inbox imminently!

However, that being said, if you are going to be a little late you need to let us know that now so that we don't end up pursuing you for it tonight with a maniacal gleam in our eyes.

Oh crap, I just logged online and saw this. I thought the deadline was the 15th for some reason, so my story isn't finished yet. Is there anyway that I can turn it in on Saturday? I'll be able to get it done, just not in the two hours that's left until Friday starts. I'm really sorry!

Can we have an unfortunate brain-twins high-five? I was fixated on the 15th as well and had been happily just doodling here and there with plans to finish this off over the weekend and then realised mid-week OOPS WRONG so I'm pulling mine together at the last moment too! *hugs*

Digital Devil Saga icon, actually :D, although funnily enough, in Japan it was called Avatar Tuner if I recall correctly! ^^. Gale is made of fabulous and win (I mean really, if the character's short summary is cannibal-strategist-artificial-intelligence-demon-shapeshifter-who-is-most-likely-gay then, well, there'd be something a little odd about NOT adoring him).

How's yours coming along? I'm poking the story in the side with a very sharp stick now (and a lot of caffeine) but it's being a bugger to finish; just waiting on a last wind of inspiration to stitch the story together so that the beginning, middle and end actually LINK UP :).

Hmm, I'm intrigues by this character synopsis...I think I shall go take a look around this fandom once all the craziness in my life dies down.

I've pretty much got it squared away. I'd say I'm about three quarters of the way done, just some last few scenes in the middle that need to be fleshed out (the climactic scenes, of course), and some filler scenes. It probably won't be too long, not epic of big-bang worthy, but I'm hoping it's different enough from what's been written before that people like it. It's intimidating to enter into a fandom with so many great writers!

*I suggest cookies. Or a cheese steak. Those two things always get me in a happy place where I can focus on writing...it's gonna suck when my crazy metabolism goes, and I have to worry about eating 12-inch cheese steaks, lol. *

btw- how is the character most-likely-gay? Is it like Sheppard, where I happen to think he's probably-most-likely-gay, but the show just doesn't address it? Also, cannibal-strategist? FTW!

Gale's "most-likely-gay" comes on account of the following;

Digital Devil Saga one focuses on a world that's all in greys, greens and sepias, sort of washed out, and all the characters begin with completely neutral personalities and plain grey eyes; as the story progresses, each character starts to display fits of emotion, keeping them under tabs until one thing or another triggers them to finally snap and their eyes take on a singular colour, their personalities taking on specific and defined individual traits.

Gale stays almost completely blank until the leader of another tribe (there are five warring factions in their world) approaches him reasonably and discusses the concept of 'honour' with him, saying he can see honour in Gale's eyes, and Gale starts having flashes of emotion more and more around him until the other leader dies in Gale's arms and Gale snaps into full green eyes, swearing vengeance for the other leader's death and - well, it's all pretty epic and awesome <3.

Especially because the game has a girl with a similar storyline with another girl, and the girl character openly discusses the concept of love and thinking that's what she had with the girl who died in her arms.

I heart the games SO. HARD.

Okay. Must go enter this fandom now. Immediately. Just reading about it was epic. (Plus, the character's name is Gale, and I shamelessly admit that I will probably be interested in anyone who shares the same name as one of my favorite actors, haha.) But really, that whole thing where they start out gray and gain color through certain triggers? Whoever invented this is a genius.

Well, I know all of one Gale in terms of actors, so would that be a Mr Gale Harold of Queer as Folk US fame? :D

The fandom is small but awesome and the games can be pains to get hold of but omg, so worth it. Especially for the second game - the first starts off slow then picks up speed and by the end it's barrelling, but the second game is off like a bullet from the start and the twists are just :D. And I love the combat system, because it's intuitive but cruel if you're silly - e.g. going into a battle against a fire monster with a fire-weak party member equals painful doom ^^. Plus the monster designs are pretty gorgeous.

And I love a good twist, I grew up with the Legacy of Kain videogame series ;).

Forensic Anthropology, which wouldn't you know it, has one of the longest Ph.D. programs around? 6 years!

I have a huge peg board in my kitchen that's hanging on the wall, and it's just a to do list of each school. I feel this great sense of accomplishment every time I'm able to cross something off, lol.

I keep putting off making my giant spreadsheet. *hangs head in shame*. I'm actually a theater techie, interested in everything, but specifically going to school for lighting and props/sets. The fun thing is that if I take the MFA (master of fine arts) track instead of the MA (master of arts) track, it is a terminal degree and I don't have to get a PhD after. :D

Ahh lucky. Unfortunately, for my degree I kind of have to avoid the terminal masters. Good look on your MFA though!

I'd put off the spreadsheet too, it's so daunting. Now I'm focusing on getting a job for the next six months until I move. Joy!
