So, as I looked out of the window into the dark night, I thought to myself, 'Self, what does this dark night need more of?' And, as I thought about it, I realised there could be only one answer, only one thing that could make this night better... an Asgard in a Santa hat! Which means...

The 2010 SGA Secret Santa is open for sign-ups!

Bring us your gen, your het, your slash.

Bring us your OTPs, your threesomes, your forgies, your puppypiles in the middle of the gateroom.

Bring us John and Teyla and Rodney and Ronon.

Bring us Wraith and Asurans and Asgard and Genii.

Bring us John, in love with his entire team and realising he doesn't have to choose. Bring us Evan and Radek, waking up in Vegas, hungover and married. Bring us Sam, who thinks she'd go mad if it wasn't for Jennifer's soft touch.

Bring us the stories that long to be told, the ones that rest on the lips of Teyla, of Ronon, of Radek.

Bring us your requests, bring us enough fic to see us all the way through the festive season and out the other side.

The relevant dates:

Sign-ups are between now and October 10th. All the requests will then be jumbled up and sent back out by October 17th (gives us time to match everyone up).

Responses to gift requests are to be sent to one of the moderators (moonlettuce or alyse) on or before December 10th.

Between December 14th and December 23rd all gift!fics will be posted for your delight and delectation.

Things I'd like: I'd love a gen or John/Rodney story with a dark twisty undertone this year. If you can't/don't want to do dark, I love plenty of other things, so don't despair! You can write me romance, action, crack, an outlandish AU, a kinky PWP, a non-kinky PWP, a crossover, a fusion, or an introspective piece about a character, the team, Atlantis, or anything else you can think of, at any rating. I love worldbuilding and languages; giving me a Ronon or Teyla backstory piece would be awesome! Mission fic is always love. Angst with a happy ending is my favorite. If you don't do John/Rodney, I can handle lots of other pairings (or gen! I love gen!), just see my note about pairings in my 'wouldn't like' section below. I read very widely and while you're welcome to look over my sga recs to see what I like, the answer is: I like almost everything. And it's important to me that you enjoy making this, so if you love your story but it doesn't fit any of this stuff? That's perfectly fine by me.
Things I wouldn't like: I can handle 95% of all ships; the two that for some reason don't generally work for me are Elizabeth/John and Teyla/John (I love Elizabeth/Teyla like burning though!). That said, I'm perfectly willing to go with any pairing at all (background, previous, or secondary) if the foreground is either gen or John/Rodney. As for squicks, the only things I can think of that I would prefer not show up are scatplay and mpreg. I'm willing to work with absolutely anything else (and I've discovered a bunch of new kinks by reading about them, so try me!). Also - no character bashing, please.
What I can do: I'd prefer to write John/Rodney. If match-ups are problematic, I can also do slashy/femslashy rarepairs (particularly with minor characters), team!fic or OT4, and gen. I can write canon-compliant, crack, fluff, angst, romance, darkfic, deathfic, missionfic, most tropes or kinks and any rating from G to NC17. If McShep is requested, I can write canon-compliant fic without bashing or killing Keller.
What I can't do: Pairings or fic where one of the main characters is Aiden, Carson, or Elizabeth (with the one exception of Elizabeth/Teyla). I'm just not very good at writing their voices. John/Teyla. Mpreg (sorry, someday this will be off my list, but not this year) or scatplay.

Other than that Gen heavily centred on Lorne is also my thing. You could infact not even include Sheppard's Team and I'll be happy. I love me a bit of angst, and do not object to dark themes, character death, dub/non-con, apocofic or slave!fic, that said, romance and fluff will also push my buttons as will first-times fic. Things I'd like: Radek/Lorne, John/Radek, or Radek/Ronon, friendship fic for any of those pairs, or Radek gen, especially backstory. (Let's just say Radek Zelenka is my theme this year.) I like humor, banter, friends-with-benefits relationships (whether or not they end up becoming more serious), slice of life stories, coming-out-to-friends stories (keeping in mind that the military characters can't come out to everybody if DADT is still in force), and anything that showcases the glorious weirdness of living in Atlantis. If you feel like writing kink, bondage or verbal domination with top!Radek would be lovely, but entirely vanilla sex (or no explicit sex at all!) is also perfectly fine.

Things I wouldn't like: McShep even as a background pairing; mpreg, crackfic, wingfic, AUs, genderswap; Atlantis permanently on Earth post-season 5; character bashing of anybody; an unhappy ending.

What I can do: Radek/Lorne or John/Radek; gen about John, Rodney, Teyla, Ronon, Radek, Lorne, and/or Sam; crossovers with SG-1; humor, friendship fic, romance, smut.

What I can't do: Lord, can't do....I can do anything really if I had to, it just wouldn't be my best stuff. But for Christmas I would rather no be pushed out of my total realm of comfort, so...no slash outside of McShep unless it is a treesome that does not require Rodney or John or the other character to be mistreated or purposely made to feel unwanted.

Things I'd like: I'd really love to have some John/Teyla this year. If that's not possible, I also like OT4 (John/Rodney/Teyla/Ronon), John/Rodney/Teyla, John/Lorne, or John/Rodney/Lorne. No, John/Rodney is not on that list, because while I do love them like crazy, I'd like a little something different in my stocking this year. But if none of the above are at all possible, McKay/Sheppard is fine.

I love romance and I love action/adventure, and a combination of the two is even better! But don't worry if those don't work for you--I also enjoy character studies, nice little domestic moments, UST, PWPs, or friendship pieces.

Things I wouldn't like: Keller or Beckett to any great degree, or any Lorne/Parrish. Please, if you choose to write John/Teyla or John/Lorne, no Rodney bashing! No non-con/rape, heavy or lifestyle BDSM, kink for kink's sake only, genderswap, mpreg or wingfic. I'm not big on crack or completely different AUs for this fandom. ('What-ifs' in the SGA universe are great, though.) Oh, hi, and I don't know how I always forget this, but my biggest squick is humiliation.

What I can do: I'm pretty flexible--if there's an odd pairing that's not on either of these lists, there's a good chance that I'll do it. Here's a start, though: John/Rodney, John/Teyla, John/Rodney/Teyla, John/Rodney/Teyla/Ronon, Teyla/Ronon, Rodney/Teyla, John/Ronon, John/Rodney/Lorne, John/Lorne, Teyla/Elizabeth, Ronon/Elizabeth, Elizabeth/Radek, Elizabeth/Lorne, Rodney/Elizabeth, Elizabeth/Sumner, Teyla/Bates. (And yeah, I'm totally fine with writing gen, too.)

What I can't do: I'd really rather not write Beckett, Keller, Ford, or Woolsey. I'd rather not write SG-1 characters or crossovers (Sam being the exception, of course). No Lorne/Parrish. Sheppard/Weir would not be my first or even fifth choice to write, but if you've got nobody else to write it, I can probably do it. I still haven't watched all of Season 5, so no season 5-only characters, please, and it'd probably be better if you didn't assign me to someone who wants a specific episode tag from 5. (But I'm flexible--if you need me to, I'll get it done.) I'd rather not write crack, rape, heavy or lifestyle BDSM, genderswap, mpreg, or wingfic.

Things I'd like: I really only want a John/Rodney pairing.  I would love an angsty Christmas piece with a happy ending and declarations of love.   I do not mind huge levels of sap and tried and true Christmas cliches are always welcome.  I love h/c fics but again, must have happy ending.  NC-17 is awlays appreciated.  I do not generally like AU fics but would make an exception for a fireman fic.  Generally, I like post-series pieces where Keller is out of the picture, but happy about it. 

Things I wouldn't like: excessive kink: especially humiliation fic or slavefic.  I do not like violence in a Christmas story but recovering from said violence is okey dokey.

What I can do: I'm a one trick SGA pony I'm afraid.  I write McShep only.  I can write any rating although I prefer R and NC-17 stuff.

What I can't do: without a really clear prompt, I would struggle with extreme angst.  With clear wishes, I could probably do it though.  I cannot write kink as of yet.  I cannot and won't do deathfic or rape.  I suck at science so I tend to write pure relationship fic.  I don't write Gen or Het in this fandom.

Things I'd like: I am a John girl, so I have a bias for stories where he is a focus. My primary pairing is definitely John/Rodney, but I can also go for John with: Ronon, Teyla, Zelenka -- either romantic or friendship. Doesn't need to be explicit, but I do like a sense of the characters caring about each other. I'm pretty easy to please! Not specific requests but FYI: I love seeing the characters being competent/smart in their professional roles, action/adventure, humor, alien or Ancient hijinks, canon or Earth-based AUs, cyberpunk, SF, robots -- I like 'em all. I have a weird fondness for crushes, and I don't care which party is afflicted (but prefer the wry-to-bittersweet-pining end of the spectrum rather than self-destructive obsession.) I'm fine with canon or other secondary pairings (so long as John gets someone too!) I like all of Atlantis's leaders, and also Lorne, the soldiers, and the scientists. Todd sightings are welcome.

Things I wouldn't like: Any character bashed/demonized, Rodney characterization where he's insulting/yelling nonstop (please let him be a multi-faceted guy!), cheating/betrayal, permanent major character damage, or a totally bleak outcome -- not for my holiday story, please. Anything on my "can't do" list.

What I can do: John/Rodney preferred, but can also try John/Ronon, or gen or friendship featuring any characters in my "like" listing. Canon or AU. I do write all ratings, but if someone requires a story to be smutty, I'm not sure I can guarantee it.

What I can't do: Non-con, mpreg, heavy H/C, scene/lifestyle fic (I probably couldn't do it justice), SG-1 or SGU canon.

Things I'd like: I'd really love gen. Plotty action adventure, character pieces, family pieces, and teamfic are all awesome, and I'd like any one of them. My favorite characters are Rodney, Jeannie, John, Radek, Sam, Teyla, and Ronon, and anything involving any of them would be amazing - especially Jeannie. Dave showing up would be an added bonus. Crossovers with SG-1 would be loved. If you'd rather write pairing fic, I'd also enjoy McShep (though please don't set it before season three), OT4, Jennifer/Ronon, Jeannie/Ronon, Jeannie/Kaleb, Teyla/Kanaan, Sam/Jennifer, Sam/Rodney, Rodney/Jonas Quinn, John/Vala, Jennifer/John/Rodney, or John/Rodney/Teyla.

Some things I generally like in fic are family, team, friendship, love, banter, domesticity, Pegasus cultures, action, explosions, guns, people who kick ass and take names, plot, and "science", but really, as long as there's a happy or even vaguely hopeful ending I'm good with most anything. If you'd prefer a slightly more specific prompt, something dealing with declassification could be a lot of fun.

Things I wouldn't like: Major character death, character bashing (especially Keller bashing), SGC bashing, cheating, Sheppard/Mitchell, Lorne/Parrish, John/Elizabeth, mentions of Jack/Daniel, Everyone's Gay, John being explicitly 100% heterosexual, amnesia, non-Stargate AUs, a heavy emphasis on Elizabeth or Carson, John and Rodney as the only characters in the story, SGU crossovers, extreme torture, extreme humiliation, scat.

I was blessed to get two gorgeously wrenching stories last year, and one mordantly funny one: My original gift fic Know by enviropony, Folie a Deux by mad_maudlin, and Wingman also by enviropony. I was incredibly honoured to have two different writers give me three wonderful stories, and I can't wait to pay it forward for this Christmas. :D

If you would really prefer writing het than I'd be happy with Teyla/Rodney, as long as there's still the strong McShep friendship. I love me some good H/C! I really can't get enough of those. Drugged!McShep (John or Rodney) is always awesome. Back from the dead/Ascension is very welcome (though no vampires, please!). You can bring the pain and the noise to your preference, but happy endings are a must. As in, amputated limbs restored, memories returned, injuries healed and psyches intact or obviously on the road to becoming so. I love AUs, though if there's a Stargate program in it then the boys need to be part of it or end up part of it, please--one of them not being invited to the party is just too sad. I've always loved Aliens Made Them Do It, as long as the 'it' was what they wanted all along but never admitted.

Plotty stories with adventure and escapes are my favourite, especially when the whole team can be kickass. :D Teyla and Ronon getting to be brilliant is total love. Zelenka and Lorne getting to lend a hand is love too. If you like D/s stories go for it, but please have Rodney as the top. ;->

Things I wouldn't like: No heavy-duty BDSM, please, or heavy kink. NC17 is fine, but I'd really prefer less sex rather than more. Please no character bashing of any character (not even Jennifer or Kolya). No MPreg, rape, dubcon, torture porn or whump fics for the sake of whumping. I'd really prefer stories that don't have the Wraith in them, and if there are SG-1 characters, please, oh please don't have them upstage the SGA cast. And please no 'Trinity'-type stories where the big danger/conflict/problem is Rodney's fault. And if Atlantis is sentient, please don't have him or her prefer John to Rodney. :)

What I can do: I can write whatever I asked for myself, as well as Mpreg, Het, non McShep slash, femslash or gen, though there must be a strong McShep friendship even if they're not 'shipped. Basically I can write anything you want, excepting what I've specified below. I'd rather write happy endings, but if you want a tearjerker I can oblige. :)

What I can't do: No character bashing (Evil!Scientist Rodney and Psychotic!Shep-type AUs are an exception). No heavy BDSM or kink, please. Stories where Rodney's arrogance causes disaster (an honest mistake is okay, though). I'd really rather not write PWPs or stories where there's more sex than plot. No rape or dubcon or Aliens Made Them Do It unless it's what they secretly want anyway.

Things I'd like: I adore Radek all by himself or Zelenka/Lorne and things with Miko in it. Gen team [S2 and beyond] is fine - no S1 because Ford and I just don't click. No overt sex [het or slash], but gently implied is fine. I'm very middle-of-the-road gen good feelings for this year.

Things I wouldn't like: Nothing with Keller or Ford. Nothing with explicit sex [het or slash], death, torture, SMBD, etc. Gen, really.

What I can do: I am best with Zelenka or Zelenka/Lorne [gen and implied slash], but can do pretty much anyone gen except Ford.

What I can't do: I no longer do death fic, no torture, no slash/pwp/etc. Not good with Elizabeth, Ford or Keller. Just consider me a mid-stream gen writer. At the most, I may imply a relationship, but nothing physical.

Things I'd like:)  I am a total Lorne girl, and a sucker for hurt/comfort, so that's my biggest wish. I love illness as well as injury fics, so if you prefer fevers to broken bones, that's fine.  I'd love a really plotty fic where all seems lost - but then ends up happy and everyone healthy at the finish. :) I really love Lorne/Teyla, but if slash is your thing, then I can totally go for Lorne/Mitchell or Lorne/Parrish -- but *only* if Parrish is Competent! and Kick-ass! You know, less puppy dog and more friendly wolf.  I also am very happy with Lorne/OMC as long as the OMC is well-rounded. I love AUs and cross-overs of the shows I know (Torchwood, SG1, Sanctuary and that's pretty much it). I don't watch TV so I know very few shows, but if you have one in mind and sell me on the characters, I'm happy! I like team!fic about Lorne's team (whomever you want them to be,) and I like really good Gen fic with the H/c and the great, supportive, loyal and solid friendships. I like all the main characters and a *lot* of the minor ones (with the Chuck!nician being my fav,) so feel free to throw in other characters or make it a rare pairing (het or slash) with Lorne as well. As long as Lorne is the main character and it's got H/c, I'm happy. 

Things I'd hate:( Lorne slashed with Zelenka or Beckett. They are great characters, but I have no feeling what-so-ever for that pairing, and in fact, they kind of squick me. I don't like PWP because I really like plotty fics. And while I *love* H/c I don't like torture p0rn or non-con or permanent disability.  Hard core BDSM is not my thing, nor are three- or moresomes. I don't like character-bashing, but not everyone needs to be wonderful, just realistic. While I like crack and fluff, I prefer plotty stories. Dark!fic and Death!fic are not wanted for Christmas, although Angst!fic with a happy ending is totally fine.

Things I can do! I'm pretty cool with almost anything, including light BDSM and mpreg. I love Lorne and I'll pair him with almost anyone (I paired him with Kavanaugh last year for SGA Secret Santa!) but I'll write femslash or rare pairings or het if preferred. As I said above, I love AUs and would be happy to write cross-overs with the shows I know (also see above). I'll write almost all slash pairings as well, if it turns your crank, and I'm very happy to write rare pairing and use minor characters. I am good with dark!fic, apoco!fic and really harsh H/c if that's what you would like. I like plotty and tend to write long as well.

Things I can't do! No Zelenka or Beckett pairings. Just can't. Sorry! No death!fic unless it's an OC or a very minor character who buys it. I don't want to write PWP, three- or moresomes or heavy BDSM or hard-core kink. I don't like AMTDI or DADT-based fics, and I won't have time for tons of research so an AU set somewhere in the real world where I have to learn about being a chef or a detective or a horse-trainer to make the fic work will not work for me! Other than that? I'm pretty open. :)

Things I'd like: Anything John centered, really. I'd love something that got to showcase John's intelligence, or even just his sheer competence in certain matters. I'd also love John/Rodney, John/Lorne, or John/Mitchell. I also love me some angst. I love when John can be IC but so angsty about whether or not someone likes him, whether he deserves them or not. Even possible partner betrayal works, as long as there's a happy ending, and we really get to see how loved John is. Any rating
Things I wouldn't like: Het, stories where John is only a secondary character. unhappy endings. non-con, dub-con, bloodplay, pure porn, focus on Keller. I'd also rather not have any "John is angstful about his newly found gayness" stories.
What I can do: I can do slash mostly, although gen works too. My favorite characters to write about are John, Rodney, Lorne, Ronon, Mitchell, or Jack O'Neil. I'm good doing any rating, mostly any genre, and AU, canon, or futurefic are all workable. I'm also good with trying crossovers, as long as I know the fandom. I can do romance, or an epic friendship, or both.

Things I'd like: I would like an AU fic where Atlantis is cut off from Earth for five years. Atlantis has become a home for many people, especially for three people (John/Rodney/Carson, John/Rodney/Evan, John/Rodney/Ronon - see the pattern here lol or Evan/Carson/Radek) who are involved in a poly relationship. The DADT is repealed and there are no regs. Suddenly Earth gets in contact and everyone, including the trio (as mentioned above) have to hide their relationships. I would love to see how each one in the relationship reacts to hiding the relationship all over again and how they deal with the IOA, Stargate Command and Earth. Crossovers with SG-1 would be great too. I would love a happy ending please! If this is not possible then any threesome (with the pairings I mentioned above) fics will do with smut, p0rn or hurt/comfort or even a Christmassy fic! - grins -
