I have a question. Is sga_santa only open to writers or can artists also exchange gifts with other artists?

Back when alyse and I first set up sga_santa, we did think about that. However, thinking about working out how many icons / graphics / non-written media were equivalent to however many words made our heads hurt. Because we match people's requests and so on, I'll be honest and say it's much easier for us if it's just fic, so that's what we decided on.

I completely understand that it's impossible to find an equivalence between art and fic as they are completely different. I wasn't talking about exchanging a fic for a piece of art, I was asking about exchanging an art piece for another art piece. In other words, artists could be secret santas for other artists, just like the writers are right now doing among themselves... :)

So everything I've read so far indicates that this is a fic only gift exchange. Would you consider allowing people to offer up vids instead (maybe for future years?)? Or even graphics of varying types (icons, original art, layouts)....

alyse and I had this discussion back when we first set up the comm, and we decided for a few reasons to keep it as just fic. Matching up over 80 people (as we've had in the previous years) gets complicated enough without adding other media to the mix. (And I feel like such a wimp for saying that when Yuletide has to match up a bazillion people and fandoms *grin*)

It is a thought we may keep in mind for later years, but I'm afraid 2007, at least, will just be fic.
