So, any guesses as to which writer goes with which story?

I'll refrain from guessing myself - I have kind of an inside track ;)

Well, I'm going away tomorrow until after new year, so I'm going to put my pitifully few guesses down now.

To Drive Away the Winter Cold - tiranog
The Road to Nevada - z_rayne
Androcles and the Lion - isiscolo
Dissolved Girl - saeva

See, I did say pitiful, and I wasn't lying ;-)

Hmm, I'm working on the people on my f-list, since I should be in with a chance.

I'm going to guess Flawed was by [livejournal.com profile] mandysbitch.

I'm curious as to why you think I wrote Dissolved Girl, if you're willing to tell.

I'll guess one:

And someone gave me a tip - and it was a good one - so I'm guessing Fluffyllama wrote "The Road Less Travelled."

I'll be posting my guesses later this week. I'm not guessing all, but I'm guessing a bunch!

In the meantime, I've posted an analysis of the pairing and character frequencies (http://www.livejournal.com/users/isiscolo/256636.html) over at my lj.

I think [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna wrote the wonderful story "The Bee-Charmer." I haven't read enough to make any more guesses yet.

I didn't take part so I'm not sure if I'm even allowed to guess but I loved reading them all.

Cool :D

I'll guess:
"through a glass darkly" - [livejournal.com profile] rosewildeirish
"Word Games" - [livejournal.com profile] tigs
"Do Not Meddle in the Affairs - [livejournal.com profile] burningchaos
"McKay Squared" - [livejournal.com profile] terrie01
"Do I Have Too..." - [livejournal.com profile] hth_the_first

From: [identity profile] ria-kukalaka.livejournal.com
Yep, it was mainly the Rodney/Radek *g* Although all of the R/R stories were really good, this one read like something you would write. (I loved it to bits, btw)

*wonders if any of the others were right*

I haven't read any of her fic, but I'm guessing that [livejournal.com profile] verstehen wrote Secrets because she was one of the few prepared to write secondary character fic.

Actually, a number of people put 'I'll write anything' down, which we took to mean 'I'll write anything, including rare pairings and secondary character fic'.

So I think the pool of possibilities is far wider than you suspect.

If any of these are right I'll be amazed....however I did go through everyone's requests and read what the writers are willing to do and used that as a kind of benchmark to weed out the stories the authors couldn't have written...however even doing that there were doubles for some pairings and types of stories and I just had to guess...

The Long Way Home [livejournal.com profile] tielan
The Secret Garden [livejournal.com profile] wickedwords
The Road Less Traveled [livejournal.com profile] auburnnothenna

May I ask why you think [livejournal.com profile] tigs wrote Friday I'm In Love? I've seen her linked to several different stories and, not having read a whole lot of SGA fic, I have no idea if she's just that good or if she's the little black dress of fandom or what. :)

I think it's because in her request, she wrote that she can write Zelenka/Lorne and only one or two other people said they'd be willing to write this pairing...really on some of these I just threw names and stories together...it was a toss up between this story or Word Games. I could be completely wrong on this of course because other people said they'd be willing to write just about any pairing and I think tigs just listed Zelenka/Lorne as a possible pairing she'd be willing to write. Right this moment I can't even remember what other stories [livejournal.com profile] tigs wrote. :( I planned to try and read a sample of all these authors and compare to the stories I picked for them but my shoulders started to hurt so I decided to just go with my gut feeling.

p.s. I think [livejournal.com profile] tigs is listed often because she has written a lot of stories in the SGA fandom (and a variety of pairings too)...I think her writing style is good enough to gather a following of readers...Me I prefer longer stories myself but she's not bad with short stories.

Just jumping in here for a quick comment. SGA is just about the only fandom I've ever written in that I seem to have a default of short story on. :) Every other fandom I've been in, it's 700 page novels. Or, at the very least, 200... *g*

really??? the only fandom I saw that had the longer stories was in the pop slash...however I'll admit I didn't really look that deeply at all the stories, I just kind of did a quick browse through...I'll probably end up reading your firefly, hp, and buffy fics after I finish the SGA ones. :)

Okay, I wrote the above and now I realize it's not quite accurate, because yes, in the past year or two, I have been dabbling with short stories in many different fandoms. So, a bit of clarification (*g*): Usually in fandoms I'm as heavily into as I am into SGA, though, I have a lot of ideas for huge, long stories (even if they never make it beyond an outline, or I fandom jump before they come to fruition). That just hasn't happened in SGA and I don't know why.

Based on what I know and what has been confirmed to me, I can tell you that you have at least two right and at least six wrong. Naturally, I'm not going to tell you which is which. :-)

You've got "The Secret Garden" listed twice, so which one is the real guess and what is the other one?

If I remember correctly in the requests [livejournal.com profile] forcryinoutloud said she'd be willing to write a threesome pairing, specifically McKay/Sheppard/Beckett. Since there is only one threesome fic with that pairing I took a guess and picked her as the writer.

naturally I could be wrong. I'll find out for sure tomorrow. :)

hope that helps

the first name I have listed is my first guess and actually yeah you both are amazing authors and I couldn't decide for those two stories which one of you wrote what...or if either of you wrote the stories. I think both of you are capable of writing both stories.

I just left the second names there so I know if my first or second guess was correct...sometimes I second guess myself and change the right answers to the wrong answers. It's more for my own memory than anything else. which is why only one name is bolded and linked to a LJ and the other isn't.

Honestly I re-read both stories more than once trying to figure it out and short of comparing line by line your fics to the ones I guessed....I don't think I'm going to figure it out.

I hope this helps answer your question.

The Road to Nevada - Auburn

Clean and concise prose(no unneccessary words or jarring word selection), rock-solid characterizations, great details (must've needed a ton of research), no typos (that I found anyway ;), and a touch of whimsy (madcap heiress, liontamer, siamese twins). Also, Loonngg.
