Chapter four: Starting Over

Summary: Caldwell looked at Elizabeth. "Think of it has your civil duty." "My civil duty is to buy Teyla clothing and max out my cards?" "Yes," Caldwell replied smugly. "How does that work exactly?" Elizabeth asked, eyebrow arched questioningly.

Scene: Corridors

"Teyla, wait up."

The Athosian paused, turning in her tracks as Sheppard jogged toward her, wearing a broad grin. "So?"

She matched his ecstatic expression with a puzzled expression, "So?"

"Are you coming?"

"Am I going where?" she asked as they began walking.

Sheppard laughed, ducking his head, "With us to Earth."

"I am not sure."

He arched his eyebrow in response, "You're not sure? You've got a personal invite from Caldwell, of all people. You must have done something, and come on! I'll finally be able to take you to a football game!"

Teyla tilted her head. "Actually, Doctor Weir was the one who persuaded the Colonel, although I am not sure how."

John looked at her in surprise, again his eyebrow rose, "She did?"

Teyla nodded.

Sheppard looked at her with a profound expression. Fully aware of their situation, fully aware of what happened-surprisingly, Elizabeth explained it to him, whether it was due to guilt or the need to talk to someone, he really couldn't say. "How are things between you both... personally?"

Teyla looked at him searchingly. "I am not sure. Things have improved, I understand why she did what she did...but it could be better."

He looked at her, sympathizing, "It will. Elizabeth just needs time. But you're still coming to Earth, right? You'll be able to celebrate Christmas!"

She laughed.

"Oh come on! What do I have to do to persuade you? If I have to drag you kicking and screaming, I will. You know there'll be more popcorn and beer. Lots more."

Her eyebrow rose, "More popcorn and beer? How can I refuse?" she teased.

Sheppard laughed. "You've got to come. Nineteen days with McKay on the Daedalus, do you know what that'll do to me?"

An inexplicable smile blossomed on her lips, matching her expression.

Sheppard noticed this. "What's with that look?"

"Never you mind. And have you ever thought of how Doctor McKay feels about spending nineteen days with you? It works both ways, does it not?"

Sheppard opened his mouth to reply, but was overridden, "Smartass."

Teyla smirked, "It is in my genes, or had you forgotten?!"

Sheppard's eyebrow rose. "Elizabeth..."

A smirk began tugging at the corner of Elizabeth's lips, "John. Rodney's looking for you."

"He's always looking for me. Honestly, can't that man do anything without my help?"

Her smirk broke out. "He needs you to help him...pack,"

Sheppard looked at her in bewilderment, "Come again?"

"He needs your help packing."

Sheppard laughed weakly. "You're kidding, right?"

She looked at him with a mirthful expression, "Nope. I wish I were."

He glanced at Teyla. "Don't even say it."

"I was not going to say anything," she replied innocently.

"You know what." He turned his attention back to Elizabeth. "Would you miss McKay if...something happened on the way to Earth?"

Her eyebrow arched in response. "John?"

His hands shot up as he began taking steps back. "I'm just saying. I'll take that as a yes, shall I?"

Both women watched as he took off, "Are you still coming with us?"

"I do not know," Teyla replied, ducking her head.

"I would like it if you came."

Teyla's head rose slowly as Elizabeth continued.

"I would like it if we could start over, make a fresh start...a-and try to forget the past few months. Plus, I still have to take you to a basketball match, and John has to take you to a football game."

Teyla smiled.

"My invite still stands, Teyla, I want you to come, in spite of our difference in the past few months, I still want you take you shopping and show you around. Not to mention that Caldwell actually said yes. Do you know what that means? Do you know what I have to do?" She flashed a mirthful smile, "Nothing, really. But that's beside the point. The man said yes, granted that I was going take you myself anyway. But you can't disappoint Caldwell. Steven will be so disappointed, as will I, but-"

Teyla raised her hand, wearing a smirk, "If it will shut you and Colonel Sheppard up, then I will come."

Elizabeth raised her eyebrow, "You were planning to come all along, weren't you?"

"Possibly, I am looking forward to Christmas...it will be interesting."

Elizabeth frowned, "Yes. Christmas at Caldwell's...it'll certainly be interesting."

Teyla's eyebrow rose, "Will there be any of this mistletoe that Doctor McKay continues to talk about?"

Elizabeth arched her eyebrow, "Who knows. But seeing as how it's Caldwell...it's highly unlikely that there'll be any."

"Highly unlikely that there will be any what?" Caldwell emerged out of what appeared to be nowhere.

Color flamed into Elizabeth's face.

"Mistletoe," Teyla replied smugly. "Since we are celebrating Christmas at your house, I was wondering if you were going have any mistletoe."

Caldwell looked at the Athosian questioningly. "Stranger things have happened, Teyla. And I trust that you're ready and packed?"

She broke out into a broad grin. "Yes."

"You're packed?"

Teyla nodded. "I do have one question about this shopping-if I am required to bring back new clothing, how am I going to pay for all these clothing?"

"Doctor Weir."

Elizabeth looked at Caldwell bewildered, "What about me?"

A smug smile blossomed on Caldwell's lips, "Elizabeth will help pay for all your new clothing, just charge it to her credit card and the rest will pay for itself."

The Athosian broke out into a broad grin.

"Excuse me? Hi. What about me?"
Caldwell looked at Elizabeth. "Think of it has your civil duty."

"My civil duty is to buy Teyla clothing and max out my cards?"

"Yes," Caldwell replied smugly.

"How does that work exactly?" Elizabeth asked, eyebrow arched questioningly.

"I'm sure it'll work out in the end. After all, if Teyla's happy, then I'm happy, and if I'm happy, then everyone's happy. Teyla, Lorne's waiting to pack your things into the Daedalus. We'll be setting out tonight, so if you want to say your goodbyes, then you ought to do it now."

Teyla smiled, bowing her head in acknowledgment, before sprinting off.

"You're trying to get me back for inviting Teyla along, aren't you?"

Caldwell laughed, "Nope. The kid's clearly crushing on you."

Elizabeth looked at him, startled by his remark.

"My grandchild's words not mine," he said raising his hands, "And Elizabeth, did you really think I wouldn't notice? I'm not that old, in spite of what you might believe."

Elizabeth eyebrow arched as he continued. "Now, what was it that you were saying to Teyla? Oh, yes. 'Christmas at Caldwell's...it'll certainly be interesting'. Just how will it be interesting?"

She looked at him sheepishly, "I should check to see if I've left anything behind."

"That would be a wise idea."

Time-lapse

Teyla looked outside the window, Sheppard stepped up beside her. "You're going to love it on Earth: all the presents, the food, the wine, the mistletoe, and then there's the shopping, football, basketball..."

Teyla glanced at him, "I still do not understand the meaning, behind this mistletoe."

John's eyebrow rose, "Elizabeth or Rodney haven't explained?"

"No."

John grinned. "You're going to love it."

McKay wandered toward them munching a chocolate bar.

"So McKay, Christmas at Caldwell's- what do you think?"

"Crazy," he replied, before taking another bite into the bar.

Elizabeth walked toward them, with a mug of coffee. "What's crazy?"

"Christmas at Caldwell's. It'll certainly be interesting. And of course, someone still has to demonstrate the meaning behind the mistletoe to Teyla."

McKay was ready to reply, when Sheppard shot him a warning look. "And, geez, I dunno, Elizabeth, you've been chosen."

Elizabeth choked on her coffee, "I think not!"

"Why not?" Sheppard asked, throwing her a look of innocence.

"Yes, Elizabeth, care to explain why not?" Rodney asked, "I mean I can see how difficult it must be for you: Teyla plus mistletoe equals fun, demonstration or no demonstration; no fun, no mistletoe and no Teyla...mmm, I can see the difficulty."

Teyla's eyebrow rose questioningly at Rodney's behavior; Sheppard laughed silently.

"You know why," she growled at Sheppard.

"Whatever happened to bygones?"

Elizabeth glared at him, before stalking off; he sighed and ran after her.

"Damnit John! Why do you do this?!"

"Because, Teyla likes you, and you like her."

She laughed weakly, "It's not as simple as you think."

"You fucked up, I get that. But Christmas is a time for forgiveness, a time to start afresh..."

"Isn't that the New Year?"

Sheppard snorted. "You know what I mean."

Elizabeth closed her eyes, slumping into an empty chair, "I don't think she's really forgiven me, John, and I don't think she ever will."

He sat next to her, taking her hand into his, "She will. Come on, this is Teyla we're talking about. She's the most forgiving and understanding person I've met."

"I betrayed her. I lied to her. I used her. I played with her emotions. I was bitchy towards her....something tells me that she won't forgive me, and I can't say I blame her."

He squeezed her hand, "You never know. Talk to her, open yourself up, and she might just surprise you."

She smiled faintly, but said nothing.

Beckett was the first to emerge, followed by Teyla and McKay. Beckett grinned, as he flashed the pack of cards, and as they took to their seats, Beckett spoke, "Anyone up for a wager?"

Elizabeth's eyes flickered toward Teyla's, Teyla smiled faintly, before continuing her conversion with Rodney.

She stood up, walking toward Teyla, "Could I have a word?"

Concern surfaced over Teyla as she stood up and followed the diplomat.

Elizabeth ran a hand over her mouth, "Are things really okay between us?"

Teyla gazed at her. "I do not know. Things could be better," she admitted.

Elizabeth sighed. "I'm so sorry, Teyla."

Teyla smiled understandingly. "I know you are."

She ducked her head. "Forgiveness is a hard thing to do."

Teyla took Elizabeth's hands into her own. "Is that what you think? That I have not forgiven you? I will admit that your actions still perplex me, but I do forgive you."

Elizabeth smiled slightly. "You see, I don't know if you have, or if you're just saying it for the sake of saying it."

"If I didn't, then I would not have come,"

Confusion washed over Elizabeth.

"You asked me to come, and you are the reason I'm standing here now, not because of Colonel Sheppard, or Caldwell, but because of you."

"How can you be so forgiving?"

"Because," she replied, softly, "I was brought up to forgive, regardless of the person's action."

Elizabeth smiled weakly.

"And as I said, I would not have come if you had not invited me, nor would I have come if you hadn't 'pulled a few strings' as Doctor McKay would say."

Again, Elizabeth smiled, but said nothing.

"And as I said before, I am attracted to you, but...we need to rebuild what we have lost before we can even think of forming a relationship."

Elizabeth gazed at Teyla, everything had gone wrong, so horribly wrong, and it was her own doing. And truth be told, she wasn't really sure if they'd be able to move on. "I'm so sorry,"

Chapter Five: 'Twas the Night before Christmas

Summary: Caldwell glared at Elizabeth and Teyla. "Does this look like a make-out joint?" Elizabeth smirked. "Yes?" she said, pointing at the mistletoe.

All five parties approached the house, but Teyla remained in the middle of the road, snowflakes falling onto her face, clothing, and into her hair, as she glanced around in awe: snow covered the rooftops, cars, ground and trees, brightly lit houses.

Her eyes traveled to the house in front-Caldwell's-a brightly lit Santa sign glowed with the words: Santa, please stop here in white letters, as well as a snowman stake. The lights on the roof were covered in snow, so she could barely make out the colors. Decorations hung in the windows, golden and rainbow colored lit reindeers, white and gold stars...

She felt someone pulling at her. "Come on! It's freezing. Have a look later. Just eat something first."

Her eyes flickered left. Sheppard looked at her with a pleading look. She smiled, "Never have I seen such beauty, so many vibrant colors, decorations..."

Sheppard grinned, linking his arm through hers, shopping bags bumping against his legs. "Does this street beat the others?" he teased.

Teyla grinned, ignoring his mocking as she replied, "Yes."

They walked toward the slightly opened door, and as they entered, Sheppard noticed the mistletoe hanging from the doorway, but opted not to say anything.

The hallway was decorated with tinsel and family photos-tinsel wrapped around the frames.

Gold and silver glitter was sprinkled across the floor; young children were running around screaming at each other, panicked adults chasing after the children. A mirth-filled smile formed on Teyla's lips as they entered the dinning room. As Sheppard placed the shopping bags on the floor, the presents tumbled out.

Teyla's eyes fell onto the six-foot, brightly decorated Christmas tree. Elizabeth strode toward them, "Teyla, could I have a word?"

Teyla looked at Elizabeth in confusion, "Sure."

Elizabeth pointed toward the hallway, but as Teyla made her way toward the hallway, John grabbed Elizabeth's arm lightly. "Just be honest and the rest will sort itself out."

She smiled, kissing him on the cheek before leaving; John felt heat rush towards his face.

McKay snickered. "Awww, look at little pink colored Rudolph."

Sheppard glared at the scientist, before stalking towards him.

Rodney began backing away, but John grabbed him lightly, before kissing him. Rodney froze, as Sheppard pulled back, he grinned at the startled scientist, before pointing toward the painted Christmas object, "Mistletoe."

"I'm aware of that...b-but..."

Sheppard arched his eyebrow, "But what, McKay?"

"Caldwell!" he hissed.

And as if on cue, the Colonel stalked toward them. "Gentlemen," he handed them a glass of white wine, "Enjoy," he began to walk away, only to stop suddenly. "Oh, there was one more thing," he said, spinning around, his expression profound, his tone bears warning, "Not in front of the grandchildren. You'll scar them for the rest of their lives, and I'm afraid I can't take that risk."

McKay and Sheppard looked at each other, startled. "There's a box of mistletoe in the garage, if you need an excuse, but honestly, what is this-second grade? Act like men and admit your damn feelings...but again, not here, I don't want Kerry to blame me for scarring the grandchildren."

Both men stood dumbfounded-this wasn't what they were expecting! As Caldwell walked away, McKay finally spoke, "You know, if Christmas has this effect on Caldwell, I wonder what'll happen come New Year's Eve."

Sheppard grinned, "A box full of mistletoe, an empty garage...I'm surprised he didn't give us a lecture on safe sex."

Rodney looked at the pilot, horrified.

"Relax, Rodney, I'm just messing."

McKay sighed, relieved.

"No, (an inexplicable smile blossomed on his lips), we'll just leave that part for when we crash at Elizabeth's, when she's taken Teyla shopping."

Elizabeth looked at Teyla, "I can't do this," she said, taking Teyla's hands into her own. "I've tried, believe me, but I can't do this anymore. I know that I'm probably not making any sense, but... I've fucked up, big time, through no fault but my own. But I don't just want your friendship, I want you."

She closed her eyes, running a hand through her hair. "I've messed up, I know that. I've treated you badly, when you hadn't done anything and I'm aware that I really shouldn't be asking you this, but (she opened her eyes, only to be greeted by confused and concerned brown ones)...I would like for us to start dating. Granted that my emotions are still playing havoc with me, but what I'm certain of is my feelings towards you."

Teyla opened her mouth to reply, but was overridden. "You do know that you're standing under the mistletoe?"

Teyla's eyes flickered up, and back to Elizabeth.

"Thank you for pointing that out, Rodney."

Teyla's eyebrow rose questioningly.

"It's tradition to kiss under the mistletoe," Elizabeth began, "But we don't have to, if you do-"

Her words were cut off as Teyla's lips smoothly brushed against hers, she pulled back wearing a shy smile. "I would like that."

Elizabeth arched her eyebrow.

"To date. Perhaps, when you take me to see the LA Lakers..."

Elizabeth gazed at her searchingly. "What happened to rebuilding what we've lost? I don't want to pressure you, and if you're just saying this for the sake of saying-"

Teyla raised her hand, silencing the older woman. "Today, during our visit to the (she paused, perplexity surfaced in as she tried to find the right syllable) ...mall? (She grinned). Yes, to the mall...when the Colonel had taken me into the sports shop, we spoke about you." She ducked her head briefly as Elizabeth arched her eyebrow questioningly, "about what you did and why (she refocused on the diplomat as she continued). I was not aware that you had spoken to him beforehand, but we spoke, and John made me realize something." She paused, perplexed, "I am not really sure, how to word this," she admitted. "As I have said many times before, I am attracted to you, I have been for several months, and perhaps I will never fully comprehend your people's behavior or actions, but time is of the essence, especially with the Wraith, who knows how long we really have... "

A tall slender redhead came stalking down the stairs, her eyebrows rose at Teyla's last comment.

Elizabeth smiled at the younger woman; she gazed at both women, searchingly, before muttering the word, "Weird," and headed toward the dinning room.

Elizabeth was at a loss. "What are you trying to say?"

Teyla blushed, her perplexity beginning to resurface. "I would like to see what happens between us, I would like to see where our date takes us. Granted, we mightn't work out, but I would like to take that chance, I would like to take the risk. I am fully aware that whilst we were on the Daedalus, I said we should rebuild what we have lost and that that included our friendship, but perhaps as we could do both, work on our friendship as well as our...relationship," she laughed, embarrassed, "I am not making any sense, am I?"

Elizabeth looked at her with a mirthful expression. "I think I understand. And if I've guessed correctly, you'd be okay if I kissed you?"

Teyla smiled, before claiming the older woman's lips.

Yes, this was certainly going to be interesting, without a doubt.

"Ewwww! That's soooo gross!"

Both women pulled apart, startled by a girl's voice, heat rushing toward their faces.

Elizabeth arched an eyebrow as she bent down, grinning. "Yes, I suppose it is...gross. So what's your name?"

She grinned: her front two teeth were missing, her blue eyes sparkling as she replied, "Lara."

"That's a beautiful name for a beautiful little girl..."

Lara's cheeks turned pink.

"So," Elizabeth said, standing up and arching an eyebrow at Teyla, "Lara, do you love Christmas?"

She nodded, her dark hair bouncing up and down. "Uh-huh! Grandpa said that Santa's going to bring me an extra huuuuge present!" She stretched out her arms as far as they could go, "Like this big!"

Elizabeth laughed, Teyla raised an eyebrow. "Yeah, that's huge. So Lara, how old are you?"

Lara grinned, raising five fingers, "Six."

"Wow! Six? That's a big number. Do you know how old I am?" Elizabeth asked.

Lara giggled. "Old?"

Teyla laughed while Elizabeth darkened. "I'm thirty-" she trailed off, "Never mind."

"You're older than my mom!" she said, before running off and bumping into her grandpa. "Grandpa!"

Caldwell grinned, scooping the six-year-old onto his arm, "Hey princess!"

"Are you going away again?"

Teyla and Elizabeth glanced at each other in surprise, never have they seen this side to the Colonel, until now. Who knew he was like this? Who knew he could be so kind? So nice? So gentle? So caring? So loving?

Caldwell strode toward both women, wearing a warm, widened smile-which certainly looked out of place.

"Ladies, I would like-"

Lara giggled; Caldwell's eyebrows rose. "Lara, what's so funny?"

She pointed toward both women, grimacing. "They were kissing!"

He glanced at both women questioningly, before turning his attention back to the child in his arms, "Gross, huh?"

She nodded, blue eyes widening, "Uh-huh!"

He crouched down, and she jumped out of his arms. "Lara, I have to speak to the two young ladies now," he said, kissing her on the forehead.

She grinned hugging him, before running into the kitchen and yelling, "Mommy! Those two weird ladies were kissing!"

Both women darkened and Caldwell's expression became vacant. "I want you both to know, that I won't be held accountable for my actions."

"Steven-"

He raised his hand, silencing the diplomat. "Do you know what you've done? What kind of situation you've put me in? It's bad enough that McKay and Sheppard almost succeeded ...but for the two of you to have succeeded-"

"Colonel," Elizabeth interrupted, "Steven. What the hell are you on about?"

"Kerry is going to kill me. You've scarred Lara for life."

Confusion and amusement surfaced over both women.

Caldwell glared at Elizabeth and Teyla. "Does this look like a make-out joint?"

Elizabeth smirked. "Yes?" she said, pointing at the mistletoe.

Steven rolled his eyes. "I don't know who's worse, you two, or McKay and Sheppard. Now I'm going to give you the same piece of advice that I gave them: act like women, admit your damn feelings-this isn't the second grade."

Elizabeth arched an eyebrow. "You told them to act like women?"

Caldwell glowered at her. "Funny, Elizabeth, really funny. Remind me to laugh."

A mirthful smile broke out on the Athosian's lips. "Apparently, not many people find Elizabeth's...dry humor funny."

"My humor isn't dry."

As the smile on Teyla lips grew wider as she replied, "Yes it is. You admitted it yourself. Even the Colonel agrees that your humor could do with some tuning, don't you?" She turned toward Caldwell with a pure look of innocence.

Caldwell raised his hands. "I'd only come to say that the food's ready."

He took a few steps, turned on his heels, and took a few steps down the hallway, only to pause and walk back toward Teyla and Elizabeth.

"And another thing,"

He kissed the startled Athosian and diplomat on the cheek, "Since you are under the mistletoe and all." He glanced at the slightly darkened Athosian. "Say, Teyla, have you tried the eggnog?"

He didn't give Teyla a chance to reply, and instead placed his arm around her shoulder and guided her into the dinning room. "Are you coming, Elizabeth?" he asked, with slight amusement.

Sheppard and McKay walked into the hallway and John's eyebrow rose, "Having a briefing, without us?"

Teyla flashed them a smile, before entering the dinning room alongside Caldwell.

Elizabeth walked toward the two men, entering with them into the dinning room.

She glanced at the two men. "Does my humor need tuning?"

Sheppard's eyebrow shot up, throwing McKay an amused look, before replying, "Why?"

She shook her head, "Never mind."

They were the last to take to their seats, and as soon as they did, Kerry continued, "Now, for the grace." She turned her attention toward her husband, her collar-length gray hair falling into her face, "Honey? Why don't you say grace?"

He smiled, before nodding.

Teyla watched as they took each others hands, confusion surfacing over her as Caldwell's son took her hand, she glanced at Elizabeth, who just smiled reassuringly, taking her hand, as she took John's and he took Rodney's. Elizabeth leaned toward the confused Athosian, uttering a single syllable, "Tradition."

Teyla smiled and did a silent 'Oh', as Steven began grace.

(Time-lapse)

Elizabeth stalked toward the Athosian in uncertainty, night had fallen, and the snow continued to fall down. "Looks like we're going to have a white Christmas," she said.

Teyla crocked her head in the diplomat's head. "The children seem very excited by this prospect."

Elizabeth smiled as she replied, "It'll be the first, and no doubt last, white Christmas."

She placed her hand over the Athosian's before again apologizing for her behavior over the past several moths. "I'm so sorry, for everything I've done to you. I know I keep repeating myself, but an apology just isn't enough and-"

"Ladies," McKay's voice boomed from behind.

Elizabeth and Teyla turned around, but Rodney didn't notice the annoyed look from the diplomat. "John and I have a surprise for you."

Teyla's eyebrow rose, deviousness taking over.

Rodney noted this. "Not that kind."

Elizabeth ducked her head and let out a chuckle.

"Our surprise is outside. You'll love it."

Both women silently glanced at one another.

"Trust me," Rodney added softly.

Both women sighed, before obliging, racing out into the front.

Elizabeth glanced around; darkness only slightly warmed colorful bulbs greeting her, as well as snowflakes. "Okay, Rodney, where's this surprise?"

McKay smiled innocently, snowflakes sticking to his clothing and hair, "Just walk into the center."

"Center of what?"

Rodney sighed, frustrated. "The road, Elizabeth! Walk into the center of the road."

She crocked her head in his direction, "Are you crazy?"

He smirked, walking toward her. "Well, Teyla doesn't think so."

She looked at him, confused. "Excuse me?"

He pointed toward the Athosian, who now stood in the middle of the snow-covered road.

"Fine! But Rodney, I'm warning you, if this is some cheap ass stunt, I'll kill you," she growled.

Rodney threw her a mock look of fear, before she stalked toward the Athosian.

"Now, where were we?" Elizabeth asked, gazing at the younger woman.

Teyla leaned up, cupping the older woman's face, her lips brushed against Elizabeth's as she uttered, "I hope that we will have some kind of future together."

Elizabeth smiled, faintly, "Me too," she muttered.

"Elizabeth?"

"Mmm?"

Teyla hesitated briefly. "I just wanted to say-hey!"

A snowball hit the Athosian, Elizabeth chuckled, but her laughter was interrupted by another snowball. "Rodney!"

McKay grinned as the snowball hit Elizabeth, he watched as John threw another snowball-this time at the diplomat.

"You're so dead!" she growled; scooping some snow, she turned her attention toward Teyla, surprised to find that she wasn't there.

This time, several snowballs hit her. "You're both dead!"

"Elizabeth!" McKay yelled, "You're too slow!"

The front door swung open, and Caldwell emerged. "What's with this racket? You're behaving like-"

Teyla hurled a snowball toward him; a broad grin blossomed on her lips as it hit him.

"Alright Teyla! Way to go!"

She crocked her head in John's direction, her smile now becoming inexplicable.

Sheppard took a few steps back, Teyla bent down, scooping a handful of snow, only to be hit herself.

"If it's a war you want, you've got one." Caldwell stated, carrying a small bundle of snowballs.

Kerry watched from the door, shaking her head at the small group of adults pitching snow against each other. Some things will never change, she thought, chuckling as several snowballs hit her husband.
