So, as mentioned in this post, Alyse and I had a conversation when we were getting stories in which amounted to wondering if we were going to hit one million words. Well, we came close, damn close.
The minimum fic size for
sga_santa is 1,000 worrds. This means that if the 110 fics posted so far had just done the minimum, we'd have had 110,000 words. Instead, we're around the 987,500 mark - nearly nine times what it could have been.
But what about the million? I hear you ask...
Well, Al and I have had another conversation and we thought we'dtotally nick an idea from Yuletide take a leaf out of Yuletide's book.
Which means I'd like to welcome you to a week of Santa Madness.
From now until the reveal on January 1st we're throwing the prompts from this year into the wind.
The rules are simple. Pick a prompt you'd like to write, then go for it.
Think of the stories as mini!gift fics. We're also knocking the word limit down to 100 words, so anything above a drabble is fair game.
Because these don't have to be anonymous, you can post them to the comm yourself. Or, you can always send them to either Alyse or myself to post for you, if you'd like to maintain that air of mystery.
Remember to put the name of the person you're writing for in the post, so people will know that you've chosen one of their prompts.
We figure we can totally get to a million words by the reveal *\o/*
So, who's up for it? ::grin::
Edited to add:
If there's someone specific you want to write for, all of the 2009 requests are in the memories:

And this is open to anyone, not just those who signed up for the original 2009 SGA Santa :)

Date: 2009-12-25 09:48 pm (UTC)Is there an easy way to find people's requests? I might have a go at one of them, but paging back to find requests is a little daunting! That said, I should, hopefully, have time to do that on Sunday if need be.Love the idea, and it'd be nice to get a million words or more!!
EDIT: Okay, paging back wasn't that big a deal, please ignore previous whine!

Date: 2010-01-01 03:32 am (UTC)Computer was fried night-before-last with a Trogan, and re-boot left it with internet but *without* a word-processing program and software won't arrive until Monday and it is only 1.5 hrs to New Year's.
But I did write about 4 pages though, before computer!fail!
I will have to finish in January....
