[identity profile] moonlettuce.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] sga_santa
Since people obviously feel very passionately about this, Al and I have tried to come up with the best solution we can.

As we had originally said we were going to post the stories through the comm, we *will* post the stories through the comm. Starting on 19th December (as that was always the day we'd said) and going through to 25th December, we will post the stories at a rate of 11 or 12 a day. (It actually works out at 11.7 each day if you're exact, but unless people want me to cut off mid-word, I'm sure you'll give me some wiggle-room here *grin*.)

This hopefully assuages any concerns about any off-LJ sites, and won't flood people's flists too much.

A specific admin account has been created to post the stories, in order to keep some semblance of anonymity.

I'd like to ask people to refrain from posting the stories to their own LJs / webpages until January 1st, so there can be a least a week of guessing and reading without know the author.

If you have a specific way you would like your story formatted, then send it to me with the formatting included and I will simply cut and paste.

When you send your fics, can you please include the following info:

Title:
Pairing:
Rating:
Recipient:
Spoilers:
Summary:

For those who have already sent in stories, I will be contacting you to ask how you want the fields I don't already have filled in completed.

lol, okay I'll try to let you know two or three days in advance if my story may be a day or two late. I really hope to get it done in time for one of my friends to beta read it. A day or two extra won't hurt, especially if you aren't going to post the stories all on the same day.

Also, I'm in a position to pinch hit for McKay, Sheppard, Wier, Caldwell, Zelenka, Beckett and Cadman, In most combinations, although probably not all at once. The geometry would become difficult. Let me know off line.

Just a quick thank you for all the work you put into this. Making everyone happy is an impossible deed, and yet you try. That's admirable. Thank you again for creating an environment for the fics in which at least I feel comfortable.

I really appreciate your willingness to work through everyone's issues. It's not easy to pull something like this together, so thank you.

Yay! I'm happy there will be a whole week of lovely anonymous stories! I'm glad you were able to figure something out that will hopefully make everyone happy.

Are you going to post an index to the stories once they're all up, and post an announcement of that to [livejournal.com profile] sga_noticeboard? Because I'm just going to have to unsubscribe from [livejournal.com profile] sga_santa while you're posting 12 things a day, but I know me, and if it's not coming across my flist, I'm going to forget it exists, and I'll never see it, and my santa will wonder why I hate her and didn't respond to her story she killed herself trying to write to my whacked out specifications.

Also, I'm sorry people are being ridiculous on the issue of posting the stories to a website, because, hello, posting 82 stories to an LJ is fucking ridiculous and your ability to cockup their precious masterwork is no more or less with you posting here through an admin account than you posting an html file.

I think you guys have been doing a great job on a challenge that's bigger than anything I would care to take on.

I got tired of reading a lot of the annoyed comments about this whole issue, so I wrote up an explanatory post here (http://www.livejournal.com/users/verstehen/277873.html) on why I feel so passionately about this subject. I hope you'll read it and it'll be a little more clear why some of us are sticking and being "bitchy" on this point.

Actually, I thought the two of you handled this remarkably well. I was referring to most of the rest of the people commenting who used words like "ridiculous" and "weird" and, yes, one instance of "bitchy" I found elsewhere. So, no, it wasn't a slam on you as mods.

It's cool! I phrased my comment badly. The you there was referring to you as mods but the "bitchy" quote was from someone else because I wanted an example of what people have been saying. So! It's my bad too. *g*

My fic may be a day or two late. It's off to the beta's now and will need some revision. You should have it by the 23rd at the latest.

And thanks for putting this all together. Great job.

I know it's a big ask on top of everything else...

But could a masterlist be posted after all the stories are in, listing the writer, the recipient, the story (and link to it), and the pairing and rating? It would make a nice 'one stop gets all fic from the sga_santa challenge' post.

Thanks for the organisation you've done! 80+ stories and writers and everything and WHOA.

Yes. We're planning to do something like that anyway, I think, once the dust has settled.

Or at least I am :)

I've nothing to add or ask about your post, I think your idea will work right fine. I only wanted to use the occasion to thank you guys for doing such a great job. I figure the whole project is eating loads of your time - especially since it is the week before Christmas. So, really, thanks for taking this on you and providing us with reading material for the holidays!

Hi, Claire. I think I'm going to be done with this by Wednesday, if that's okay.

I'm having serious computer issues, which basically means I can't get to my original mail program, and therefore find the "this is who and what I'm writing" email. Can someone re-send it? Hopefully I won't be more than a day or two late.

Sorry:( And big thanks for all your hard work.

Hi there, sorry to be difficult, but somehow 'End' got tagged onto the end of my fic after it was submitted. I deliberately don't add that myself, so do you mind removing it? Sorry to be a pain, it's just a foible of mine :( (Fic in question is 'The Road Less Traveled', here - http://www.livejournal.com/community/sga_santa/29449.html. Thanks.
