Things I'd like: John/Teyla, pretty please! I love this pairing, and all the swirling emotions underlying their interactions. For me, sound characterization is the greatest good in fanfiction. I love works that understand and give insight into the complex nature of characters' emotions, relationships, and actions and treat all the characters (especially John and Teyla) as real people. Some dynamics of J/T's relationship that I really love are: their fierce loyalty to one another, their deep mutual respect for one another, their protectiveness of one other, their self-sacrificial love, and their friendly playfulness. I like a smattering of genres, so combining several is fine, but so is doing one well. I'm totally fine with having my emotions toyed with, if you so wish, as long as there's a happy/hopeful ending. I am up for any time frame: I like post-EATG stories that make John/Teyla work in light of canon, but I also like John/Teyla stories that are set in no specific time context or in previous seasons and work with the canon that has been revealed up to that point. Lyrical prose is a bonus; I love vivid images/metaphors and brilliant little details. G to PG-13 rating.
Things I wouldn't like: I'd really prefer not to have any swearing or sex in the fic. I dislike fics that are depressing all the way through and/or end unhappily. As following from my love for sound characterization, I dislike crack!fic, stilted dialogue, and lack of subtlety where measured characterization should be. Other turn-offs: any abnormal fixation with ogling the characters or morbidly beating characters up for no particular plot purpose.
What I can do: John/Teyla. Character studies, introspection. Slice of life, vignette. Friendship.
What I can't do: Anything I wouldn't want to read myself (see "things I wouldn't like). John paired with someone besides Teyla. Slash. Stories where action/plot is front and center. Whump. Specific situations or characters brought up in S4 or S5. (I only know a handful of general spoilers from the last two seasons.)
Pinch hitter?: I'd rather not because I write slowly, and I would hate to be unfair to the recipient!
