I'm way late, but I was going to get this done, period. So my apologies to pushkin666 for the lateness.

And for anyone who knows me, please don't pass out that I wrote something longer than 1000 words. FWIW - it startles the heck out of me too.

Summary: Sometimes the holidays deliver a late present. [Lame, but it's the best I could come up with]
Author's Note: Inspired by catching one of my favorite Christmas songs "Christmas in the Trenches" by John McCutcheon and letting my thoughts wander. For what it's worth, there's more than a kernel of actual truth in a couple of the incidents related. And a byplay line from Radek in "The Siege, Part 1" that I think hints at a lot more about Radek's history than canon tells us. "But we are at war, Elizabeth. And in war, there are casualties." And my everlasting *Thank You!* to Annie for doing the last minute 'crunch-time beta on this. If folks think this is a worth while story, it is her contribution that helped make it so.

I don't know how lj cuts are related to f-locking, but if the problem is that you don't want to post the whole story to this comm, there are other fanfic comm which would welcome it.

[sigh] - it's just one of those days, I guess. I think I will post it to someplace like Waithbait for an online SGA slashy archive. I might even resurrect my old website, if I decide I want that much work. But first I've got another challenge fic that needs to be done. And at least three Starfleet Academy classes [yeah, what can I say, I'm an old Trek geek as well] that need to get done and get in.

Hey! If I work this right, I can find ways to stall websiting indeffinately. :}
