Summary: "The mixture of challenge and sorrow in his eyes renews her anger and she drops everything she is holding..."
Tumultuous Reveries
Teyla swings her right arm into her opponent. The marine who volunteered to be her dummy for this evening’s training session doubles over with pain and falls to the ground, seemingly unconscious. She sucks in a breath of air but it does not help her anger. Meditation did not help either.
She walks over to the window, brushing the stray strands of hair that escaped her loose ponytail to one side. “Stevens, take Lane to the infirmary,” she orders, shooting a steely glance at the blonde marine. Her eyes follow them to the door only to find a ragged looking Colonel Sheppard leaning against the door frame, his dark eyes watching her.
“Give us a minute," John commands his soldiers without breaking eye contact with her. The tension in the room builds when he steps inside, his presence filling the room.
Teyla watches her trainees leave the room, their beady eyes darting between her and their military commander. When the last person disappears through the door with one last glance, John waves his hand over the crystals to lock the door.
“I was in the middle of training,” she says, her voice low.
“Injuring my soldiers does not sit well with me, Teyla.” Is he trying to pull his commander crap on her now? She ignores him and starts gathering the training weaponry littered around the circular room. “If you’re angry, take it out on me. Not your trainees.” She looks up from picking up a bantos stick and sees him holding the brother of her stick, the handle towards her. Her eyes travel higher until they rest on his face. The mixture of challenge and sorrow in his eyes renews her anger and she drops everything she is holding, moving her left arm behind her, her feet sliding into position.
“Very well,” she murmurs before moving at lightening speed towards him. He tries to react but is too slow, and her weapon smacks him in the ribs. The stick falls out of his hand and with a grunt, he drops to one knee, arms wrapped around himself. “You should not pick a fight with me when you are injured,” she said, careful not to show any concern on her face. She can feel the shame and guilt growing inside her. How can she injure an already injured man? She throws her weapon down beside him and turns her back to re-gather the training gear.
“Teyla.” The pain in his voice stills her, yet she does not turn around. “If you haven’t noticed, I’m kinda stubborn,” he manages to get out through gasps and pants. She presses her lips together as tears of frustration start to blur her vision. “I’m sorry.”
“You should not throw away your life just because you are stubborn,” she starts, her voice shaking, “It does not make you a hero when you endanger your own life, Colonel Sheppard.”
“I’m alive, aren’t I?” His voice is steady again, though still a little breathless. She hears him get up, his boots making a distinct and familiar sound on the training room floor. “And so are you.” The reminder of how he covered her body with his as the villagers they were to save tried to murder her resurfaced anew and brought fresh tears to her eyes. If McKay had not shown up when he did…
“And that’s what matters. You telling me to abandon you, in the middle of that crowd… do you know how ridiculous that sounded? None of us would’ve left without you, Teyla.” He moves closer to her, his footsteps echo around the room. “Ronon would’ve died for you, too. And McKay… well, he’s pretty self-sacrificing in certain situations.” His arms wrap around her, hugging her from behind. “If death was your fate, it would be my fate, too.” She feels his lips on the back of her neck.
She feels a teardrop roll down her cheek, and hears it hit his arm. How many times will they have to do this before one of them finally dies?

Summary: "She stops walking, torn between being his second and protecting the injured..."
Unwise
Teyla pulls John out of the cave and into the pouring rain, away from Rodney's hearing. "This is ridiculous, John," she hisses, brushing water out of her eyes. "It is unwise to go after Ronon in this weather, nor is it wise to go by yourself.”
John is surveying the forest when he replies, "I know. But you need to stay with Rodney and Jennifer." He refuses to look at her. "We don't leave people behind," is all he offers as an explanation.
She turns back to see Rodney lying motionless on the cave floor with Dr. Keller kneeling over him and changing the bloody bandages for some clean ones. Their eyes meet, and Teyla senses Keller's fear; she nods in understanding and turns back to John.
"Rodney's lost a lot of blood," she whispers. "We need to get him back to Atlantis."
John looks back into the cave for a second, his features hardening. He barely glances at her as he starts to move away from the cave. She walks after him, gripping her P90 nervously.
"John," she calls after him.
"Get back to the cave, Teyla."
She stops walking, torn between being his second and protecting the injured. He slows down and turns around. "I need to do this." She hears the desperation in his voice. "There's nothing for us to do here anyway. These damned headsets don't work with the interference. The Stargate is God knows in which direction. And," he pauses to glance at his wristwatch, "back-up won't come through the gate for another hour. And then who knows how long it'll take for them to find us."
"It is suicide to go after Ronon yourself," she repeats, looking down at the mud under her boots.
"There's not much else I can do here," John replies. "Rodney's in good hands; he's got Dr. Keller taking care of him, and they'll have you as defence."
"I could leave my handgun-"
"No. With or without you, it's a suicide mission. You'll need to tell Carter what happened if I don't make it back. Plus, if I get to Ronon- an angry Ronon- it'll be like having two marines with me."
Teyla gives him a weak smile. Leave it to John to lighten up bleak situations. She bows her head in defeat, rainwater running down her face in streams, blinding her vision for a moment. "Very well," she says, pulling at one of the pockets on her vest. "Take this." She offers him the extra cartridge, palm up, which he takes with gratitude. His fingers linger over hers longer than necessary, his hazel eyes saying much more than words could before he takes off without a backward glance.
She watches him go until he disappears into the rain and bushes.
"Teyla?" She turns at the sound of Keller's voice; the doctor was standing outside the mouth of the cave. Teyla makes up her mind then and there. She takes her handgun out of its holster and hands it over to Keller.
"Just point and shoot," she tells the blonde woman, who is staring at the gun warily. "Stay inside the cave, and stay quiet. The Genii are just humans like us, they do not have any special kind of technology that can track you from their location. Back-up will be arriving through the gate in one hour or so."
Keller looks up in horror, "Where are you going?"
"After Colonel Sheppard."

"After Colonel Sheppard.", easily my favourite. Reassure the frightened and then get right back to watching John's six despite his instructions to the contrary, this is one determined Teyla. And so much concern for each other, the poor darlings :D
Thank you for those, Santa!
