You know, when I finally freed up my time to start reading, I read this one first, and it totally didn't register that it was for me (I blame lack of sleep).
I should have realized. You hit so many of my favorite tropes - forties movie AU, John gets to have a family, cranky rule-breaking ascendant Rodney overturns the order of the universe for the love of his cat, Pudding (the cat's name is Pudding. This fills me with glee all by itself)...
Also, I totally love this movie (evil George Sanders! Evil George Sanders' betrayed wife who later became Lila Quatermaine on General Hospital! Irascible he-was-never-that-young Rex Harrison! Natalie Wood as a zygote! Gene Tierney who was unnaturally beautiful in this!).
As a matter of fact, Santa, I love this movie so much that I own a copy, and I'm off to watch it. So for my story, and for a quiet afternoon with an old friend, thank you so much.
