This show is a goldmine for that. Their Kirk looks like Spock, their Spock is a slightly-shorter canadian with a receding hairline and a belly and an ego the size of a room (which is to say, he's Kirk), their McCoy is working Scotty's brogue, and Zelenka's constantly having to tell McKay that the engines kinna tek much more. Throw in skin tight jersey tops for the ladies, and it's a classic sixties/seventies space opera.
Me, I always thought the producers got in trouble when they told themselves they had ironic distance from their source material.
