Beautifully done story.

Everything just works: The Olines as regular, warm and caring people, Lorne's concern over Marta, Sheppard's immediate response to a possible problem/danger, McKay's initial complaints and subsequent insecurity of what he could do help, etc.

There's such a feeling of warmth in this story, the kind the settles in and never leaves. Contrast that to the cold and biting weather Lorne felt (and you described) and it makes the overall feeling of warmth even more bone deep. Absolutely lovely.
