It's funny, but when I wrote this, I hadn't really seen Atlantis as the granny in the equation, but so many people have pointed it out, and you all are right about that. Also, the city is kind of adorable as granny. A drone-toting, Wraith-destroying, galaxy-hopping granny, but still, adorable.
And yes, John was definitely concerned about Atlantis's feelings, but he was at least as concerned over having to soothe said feelings. In his view, it's easier to avoid the issue as much as he possibly can.
