okay so first, dear Santa, that was amazing. I love it so, so much in so many ways. this is one of the funniest fic I've read in a while and it was a joy to read from start to finish.
first, you John is ten kinds of adorkable! lol! as much with his dread about seeing the Senator and desire to flee than how he handles her and Rodney (and Atlantis). And not knowing he had an office! lol! I laughed at that and how it would come back again and again.
But then, it's not just your John that's amazing, Rodney and the Senator and Woolsey too, I could see it all.
Now at first I though, like it was meant to I guess, that John had had an affair with the Senator in the past, but when it was said that she was putting focus on all the times he almost died and I literally squeed "Omg, it's his MOM!" and from that it was even more hilarious.
What a force of nature! it's a wonderful OC and that she's just like Rodney in so many ways was absolutely fantastic. I don't know what my favorite scene was, because I love it all, but the one where he's stuck in the shower? LOL! wow. and what's even more fun was the little showdown with Rodney where John is locked out. talk about oil meeting fire!
but then, and it goes to get me to my schmoopy center, John know exactly how to handle her because he knows how to handle Rodney and i went all "awwwww!". adorable. She just wants him safe and happy!
wow, so much stuff I'd like to quote or mention, so let me just tell you I was ROFL at Rodney wanting to throw Lorne at her (and hee, sure John, she only had sex twice!), but above all, Atlantis as a doting grandma? that is soooo awesome. from
Once Rodney was on the other side of the threshold, John gave him a little wave goodbye and told Atlantis not to open the door to anyone. She sent back a vaguely querulous concern about John never being allowed to leave, and he reassured her that she could open the door for him, just not anyone else, and then he wondered if anyone else had noticed that Atlantis was getting a little dotty in her old age.
to the way you ended this amazing fic, it was something I loved loved loved.
