He had always expected, at least, a measure of sympathy for falling for someone so obviously uninterested. But instead, Rodney seemed strangely unconcerned, as if John's stupid, stupid feelings were a minor prize on the path to the Nobel, proof that he could get someone to fall in love with him, even if it was not the person he wanted.

Awwww, poor John. This is an especially effective moment because it's easy to imagine Rodney neglecting to realize that John needs to hear something back from Rodney.

I'm glad it turns out well for them.
