As I was reading this, I was really proud of myself to figure out quickly that Evelyn was the product of John and Rodney (because I totally didn't even read the title about who Jeannie was telling to storis to) and part of me winced to realise Jeannie was raising her, because that meant John and Rodney couldn't.
I got really teary eyed at #5, completely forgetting that this was supposed to have a happy ending (okay, going out in a blaze of glory is sorta happy) so the ending just sort of made the bittersweet turn all sweet and the smiles come out. Part of me is deeply curious to know how they got themselves out of this one, and the sort of hell they endured to get home again. But mostly I'm happy that they got to come home. :D
