Oh, the blurred line between empiricism & tech vs intent & faith is beautiful, just like the lines between what John is and what he can do. I love the way that John came into possession of the artifact--someone that should hate him, but doesn't, yet another dichotomy.
The glimpse into the 'verse is so tantalizing: Asgard shielded safe planets, and the ATSA instead of Atlantis, and the Trust's guerrilla war of espionage, kidnapping, all set against the unsuspecting, regular everyday world.
while part of me wants more, more, more! the other part is well satisfied with the spare structure that lets the reader's imagination fill in gaps. fantastic!
