AUs make me so happy and this one is wonderful. This is just how John would be as a commercial pilot, with his team still at his back, and Rodney is so perfect as a professor.
The development of their relationship is sweet and cute and inevitable. Right off the bat, there's such a spark between them. John might want to hold back, but Rodney is so the one for him. Even when it seemed like Rodney had betrayed him, John had to resort to looking for a route to the other side of the world just to try to shake him. And as bad as I felt for John, I ached for Rodney, too. Very nice way to get Jennifer into the story as a bump in the guys' relationship, but still nothing but background.
So many little things made me smile. I love the threats of Laura punching Rodney; Laura makes me happy ::g:: Ronon is great, as well. He doesn't say much, as it should be, but he sure has a presence.
"I only need one hand to operate the plane," John shot back.
The image this conjured was *not* of John using his other hand to shuffle through equations!
The cab scene, when John fell asleep and Rodney went in his wallet to find his address, hit me so right.
"...if this is a date, well - I mean - " He cleared his throat. "Isn't this the part where we're supposed to get the hell out of here?"
Yes, yes it is!
And the kiss on the plane! I squeed and might have bounced a little ::bg::
Finally, what tasty hot sex! John and Rodney lend themselves especially well to blowjobs, I think ::g:: It was great that Rodney couldn't stop talking (and begging and warning ::g::), and I loved John letting go and feeling so good about how he made Rodney feel.
