I love the relationships in the show, both fanon and canon, and so I wanted to include Rodney in some way, as his friendship with Radek is really important to the two of them. But I can't have Rodney without John, so I had to do something to bring the two of them together. ;) Plus it was fun writing them as the 'B' plotline for once, rather than the main one. I'm glad you liked it.
