This is not a combination I'm usually a fan of, although I like the symmetry -- usually people just write it for the porn!puzzle aspect and not the emotional entanglements. This story, though, really gets at both in a believable and lovely way, and made the threesome work for me as something I can see being good for all of them. I really love how John is actually important to both Rodney and Jennifer in a stealth kind of way; I can see how he was just planning on being the non-romantic third wheel for the rest of time, just to be with them, but this is so much better! And, wow, it was scorchingly hot too.
