First: I loved this line -
he looked like he’d fallen out of the sky.
Because some how, I can actually picture that scene, how John would have reacted and how it's not all lust and sexual tension but that honest breath taking moment.

Second: You are made of awesome, Secret Santa!

This is beautiful! I love how it's slow and easy but has so much tension running under it all. I absolutely adore your portrayal of John in this story and context. The way he's taking care of everyone - getting stuff for Rodney, making Woolsey comfortable on his uncomfortable looking couch, just sitting with Lorne.

This is John at his gentlest, how he gives of himself even when it isn't a life-or-death situation. How he worries and cares and wants only the best for his team and his city. And they in turn want John to take care of himself (like Rodney finally telling John to get some rest of his own).

Third: Beautiful John/Lorne

I love the slow build between them. How it's not something that just happened, but has been happening for a while. The easy closeness that is filled with gentleness and concern and still more than a little sexual tension. How John is more concerned for Lorne's career than his own. How he wants, but will sacrifice and do without to protect Lorne.

I am thanking you from the very bottom of my heart for how you handled that change in their relationship. How it's a choice - how the subtext of your narrative shows it's a choice they both think is worth it.

I can keep going on and on about everything I love about this story. But I think I might hit the comment length limit soon if I do. It's beautiful and everything I was hoping for after my week of hell.

Thank you so very, very much for this!

(And I'm sorry it took me so long to comment)
