Oh, I liked this! I think you got the Doctor just right with his reluctance to destroy the Wraith entirely, and I love who you brought into it. Excellent job!

NOTE: Edited to remove spoiler. Doh! Sorry about that.

I love the hints and glimpses into Rodney's background that you give here. (Reporting to himself, indeed - that's so very Rodney) A fun adventure and a fun read.

I really enjoyed this story. I love the idea that Rodney used to be in charge of Torchwood Canada, and that the SGC isn't the only player out there. Thank you.

Wow, that was really intense! Very cool way of weaving all the details together.

Thank you -- I must admit I had a lot of fun blending the two universes :)

What a wonderful fusion! Neat plot and mystery-really tense, especially in the beginning. Your characterization was superb: Teyla, as she showed Rodney she'd learned a thing or two about technology, The Doctor (both his manic and dark brooding sides), and the Wraith with their arrogant posturing all felt spot-on. I also liked the UNIT folks and how well they meshed with the Lanteans. Leni was a fantastic character and I'm glad you included her. After Teyla's scene with the DHD, my favorite scene was the one where Rodney makes his demands to the SGC, and while the rest of the hierarchy is arguing with him, Daniel Jackson just quietly makes a phone call.....

[identity profile] temaris.livejournal.com 2010-01-05 04:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you :D I'm so pleased that the characters rang true for you. I really do figure that Teyla and Ronon deserve a lot more credit for brains than they usually get, so I'm glad that worked :) (And I admit, I did rather enjoy the idea of Daniel quietly undermining SGC officialdom, because he so, so would.)

Your Doctor is very Doctor-like, \o/

I really enjoyed this. I know nothing about Torchwood but I love the Doctor. I love how the Wraith couldn't feed off of him at all.

It had a tight action plot that only slowed down a little bit with the arrival of the Valiant. Good read.

Holy crap, that was awesome!!

[identity profile] rellan.livejournal.com 2010-01-11 06:42 am (UTC)(link)
Win! Why?

1. SGA/Dr.Who x-over

2. Companion!John (brief tho' it is)

3. Rodney in Torchwood!

4. Ronan reunited with Melena.

5. The Doctor characterization is spot on.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it -- and thank you for the rec, as well :)

Thank you, on all points :)

Oh, nicely done! Smart and engaging...and you do an excellent job of treating all three canons honestly and fairly. I'll be adding this to my recs page at the next update.

[identity profile] pionie.livejournal.com 2010-01-26 10:41 pm (UTC)(link)
What a fabulous story! I've never seen Torchwood, and I only remember Dr Who as a small child, but it didn't matter- you said exactly enough and gave enough history to make them real.

[identity profile] temaris.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you -- twice over :)

[identity profile] temaris.livejournal.com 2010-02-08 11:28 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I'm really pleased it made sense despite not really knowing much about the other two shows -- I hoped it would, but it's the kind of thing that's hard to gauge for yourself!

[identity profile] taste-is-sweet.livejournal.com 2010-09-29 04:57 am (UTC)(link)
What a cool premise! And I can't tell you how my heart cheered to read the words, 'Torchwood Canada'.

That was a little freaky and harrowing. I know Torchwood, but I barely know Doctor Who other than where they intersect, but he's charmingly terrifying, isn't he? I loved his conversation with the Wraith.

That was a lot of fun. Thank you. :D

[identity profile] wanted-a-pony.livejournal.com 2010-12-09 03:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Wow, what a creative cross-over & what a substantial, thinky read! I only know some about Torchwood & rather less about Dr. Who, but the fic had enough background & cues for me to follow along easily. Poor John & Rodney, & Teyla & Evan, & Ronon & Leni! :: pets them all comfortingly :: I'm glad it (mostly) all worked out in the end--maybe even for the Wraith somehow, eventually? One hesitates to say never when the Doctor's involved....

I especially admired your characterizations & loved your sneaky!Rodney, with his not-edited,-just-not-emphasized resumé & friends in odd & unexpected places. I really hope he gets to tell John, at least, some stories about his other brilliant exploits & how very, very wrong his detractors were. ;-D

Thanks very much for writing & sharing this!

Whoa, comments, comments I didn't see! Thank you, I'm glad you liked it :) it took me a long time to get around to writing it, but I got there in the end :)
