Um, yeah, I may have thought up my own bitter little AU where they were really dead because THE PAIN, I adore it, but I am a sucker for a good happy ending. And this was a good one! Death fics *generally* are not best attempted during fic fests (er: except if you get me as a recipient. You can kill anyone for me, baby! *uses appropriate icon*)
